Herby Burger Patties (Gluten Free)


Several nights ago I declared Lettuce ‘Bun’ Burgers to be my meal of the summer. They’re fresh, quick and easy to make, finger-lickingly messy, but most importantly; delicious. I LOVE them. As does the little lass and big man of the house, so we’re enjoying them on a frequent basis at the moment. Basically you can cater to whatever flavour desire you have with various salad additions, sauces (aioli is AWEEESOME!!), bacon, or cheese.

This recipe here is my current go-to patty concoction. It’s flavourful but goes well with pretty much anything else you want to add to your burger.

A little tip; I find romaine lettuce or sweet petite cos to be the easiest sub for your usual burger buns. That said, be prepared for messy goodness!!

Meal of the summer.


Herby Burger Patties (makes approx 6-10 patties – depending on size you decide)

500g beef mince
2 tbsp chopped fresh Italian parsley
1 tbsp chopped fresh chives
1 tsp dill
1 tsp onion powder – optional
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper

Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl until well combined. Shape into your desired burger patty shape.
Heat a pan to medium heat on your stove, grease lightly with coconut oil, ghee, or butter, then cook until patties are cooked through – mine usually take 3-4 on each side (cooking time will vary due to the thickness you make he patties). Otherwise whack them on the BBQ on a hot summery day.

My favourite serving is in a lettuce ‘bun’ with tomato, cheese, perhaps a little bacon, and most definitely my homemade spicy smoked BBQ sauce and aioli.

Note: if you have extra, they keep well in the fridge overnight for more the following day 🙂
