Hazelnuts are a gorgeous nut. They’re so flavourful and delicious, and pair delightfully with chocolate – who wouldn’t love that?! They’re also amazing in salads, ice cream, muesli and much more.
This recipe for hazelnut butter is simple I’m posting it as a great foundation for few of my recipes to follow, keep your eyes peeled…
2 cups natural hazelnuts
Preheat oven to 180’C/350’F. Pour the nuts into a baking tray. Cook for 15mins or until smelling fragrant and you can see the skins are cracking and flaking away from the nuts.
Remove from the oven, allow to cool. When cooled, rub the nuts between your hands (or in a clean tea towel) to remove the skins.
Transfer the now naked nuts to a food processor and process until it reaches nut butter consistency. This will take about 10 mins, it will go crumbly and you may not think it will come together but persist, it will turn to a glorious paste (see photo below).
Store in a jar. Yields approximately 1 cup.
